Kay Gilchrist

Kay Gilchrist is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), who is retired from private practice as a psychotherapist in Denver. 

​She received her Master of Social Work degree from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and worked in the Denver area for over 40 years.  Kay became interested in the human-animal bond, specifically as related to pet loss, in the early 1980’s.

Kay joined a group of veterinarians and therapists, whose mission was to provide services to pet owners struggling with the loss of their pets, and she became the first therapist to facilitate the long-running Denver area Pet Loss Support Group in 1988.   She was instrumental in the formation of the Human-Animal Bond Trust and continues to be a member of that group, currently serving as Co-Director of the Bereavement Program. 
 
Kay lives in Denver with her dog, Peaches, and her cat, Star.  She enjoys travel, hiking in the mountains, gardening, and the theatre and symphony.
